02-09-2012 TIMELY NOTICE:

This morning (Feb. 9) a person in a residence near campus awoke to find an unknown male inside her bedroom. The incident happened at 3:42 a.m. in the 1100 block of 5th St. S. The occupant did not know the man and it is believed he gained entrance through an unlocked door.

According to Moorhead Police there was a brief conversation between the subject and resident where the subject indicated that he was in the wrong home and requested to use a telephone. After several unsuccessful attempts of asking the subject to leave, a brief scuffle ensued. The resident yelled for assistance from other occupants of the home at which time the subject fled the residence on foot.

There were no weapons involved and there were no injuries. As of this time, Moorhead police have not identified the subject. A Moorhead Police Department K-9 Team was utilized and the track led them to areas with frequent pedestrian traffic where the track was ultimately lost. Moorhead police are reminding residents to take safety precautions by locking and securing doors. Should you have any information that would assist us in the investigation please contact the Moorhead Police Department at (218) 299-5120.
